Road Trip // Photo Memories

So this is it folks, the post you’ve all been waiting for! Ok, well maybe not all of you, but my Dad really wants to see these picts and well, you have to listen to your Dad! I had such a blast driving across the country with my big brother – we saw a lot of beautiful scenery, ate some delicious food, and had an incredible journey:

For those of you driving from Nashville to LA, here are my recommendations (mostly food & sight seeing, I didn’t have time to go shopping!):

Amarillo, TX: This was a weird place, so we just embraced the crazy. We went to this tourist trap called Big Texan, it was hilarious and dripping in every Texas stereotype!

Albuquerque, NM: If you don’t stop anywhere else, you MUST go to Mary & Tito’s – they even won a James Beard “American Classic” award! It’s authentic, delicious, and local.

Phoenix, AZ: La Grande Orange is one of my favorite spots in Phoenix. A friend of mine took me there last time I was in Phoenix and I just had to go back. They have these delicious english muffins that you MUST try!

Flagstaff, AZ: This place is gorgeous and the drive from Flagstaff to San Diego was the most stunning of the entire trip! Flagstaff has a gorgeous downtown area and I’m hoping to go back and explore a little more in the winter months (and maybe get in some skiing as well!). We went to a cute little local coffee shop called Macy’s.

(most people would just go from Phoenix to LA, but we really wanted to make a detour in San Diego!)

San Diego, CA: Oh San Diego, I see many weekend getaways in our future! We went to a fabulous place called Neighborhood (that has a secret bar in the back!) and Isabel’s Cantina for brunch. I really wanted to explore the fashion scene, but I didn’t have time, so I’ll definitely update you next I time I visit!

Sorry for the long post, but this was a great experience that I really wanted to share with all of you! Hope you enjoyed the photos & recommendations :)

Saturday Market

Jeans: Imogene & Willie, Jacket: French Connection (here’s a similar one), Shirt: Vintage (you can find one similar here), Ring & Earrings: Margaret Ellis, Belt: American Apparel, Shoes: Lucky Brand (here’s a similar pair)

The weather in Nashville has been absolutely wonderful, so I decided to hop on over to the Franklin Farmers Market with my family on Saturday! From farm fresh produce to fun jewelry, this place was the perfect day to spend a weekend morning. My personal favorites were The Biscuit Love Truck, Baya Designs, and Dozen Bakery. Juice Nashville also sells their product there, but they were sold out so I couldn’t get a photo or a juice (bummer!) – however, they are opening up a new store in the Gulch, so be sure to donate to their kickstarter if you want more juice!

Oh! I also added a few more features on the blog – you can now just hover over an image to pin it, “like” or “retweet” a post at the bottom of each one, and comment with disqus! Let me know if you have any issues, I’m still sorting out getting all of my old comments back on the blog.

How was your weekend?

Glitter Done // An OMG Story

One of the coolest things about Nashville is how supportive people are. So when Old Made Good (OMG) ranted on their facebook page about finishing their glitter floor, someone suggested starting a kickstarter.  A week later, these hilarious ladies posted an awesome video on Indiegogo and set out to raise $5,000.00. Nashville (and surely some out-of-towners) got right behind the campaign and fulfilled their goal within two days!  But truth be told, the $5,000.00 will just cover the floor.  So why not keep giving? These two ladies have put their all into this amazing shop and there’s still so much to be done.

The whole idea came about when the owners of OMG, Kate & Ashley, were debating what to do with the floors – white, gray, color? One night, Kate was inspired by her Guess gold glitter pumps – and voila – the idea was born!

What I love about this whole project is how supportive the town has been of these hard-working, out of the box broads. Now don’t get me wrong, we LOVE our perfectly curated bloggers, handcrafted goods, and beautifully tailored pieces – but, some of us don’t quite fit in the “Nashville” mold.  I’ve always felt that OMG stands for the girls that are a little different and not afraid to push the boundaries (like me!).

So cough up the dough if you can. These ladies really deserve it. This isn’t just a Nashville thing, it’s a GLITTER DONE kind of thing.

Neutrals & Blues // Coye Nokes

Skirt: Talbots, Top: American Apparel, Shoes: Coye Nokes, Clutch: Sleeveless, Belt: French Connection, Bracelets: Vintage/Talbots/Ann Taylor

Although my shoe collection is dripping with chunky platforms, I’m suddenly craving more delicate, feminine shoes. I’ve seen an influx of bloggers opting for lower heels and lady-like footwear and although you’ll still see me in platforms, I have a feeling my new footwear purchases will be very different!  Anyways, that’s why I love these Coye Nokes heels – they have a to-die-for creamy color, gorgeous texture, and the perfect heel height.  I have a feeling I’m going to get a lot of use out of them :)

I wore them with a new skirt my mom got me (she is the best personal shopper ever – no joke!) and my absolute favorite clutch!

Hope you’re all having a great week, I’m heading to Athens, GA this weekend!
